Manufacturing Processes

Our workshop is made up of some thirty machines. These can operate day and night, enabling us to meet our customers' volume requirements.

Raw Materials

We select our materials from renowned suppliers.

Our high-speed steel tools are made from HSS-Co M42 / HSS-E5 M35 or HSS M2. Our stainless steel drills comply with medical standards.

The tungsten carbide we use for our standard drills is a micro-grain with 10% cobalt. Some of our customers supply us with their own carbide rods.

We are also starting to grind ceramics.

Cylinders preparation

Our heat treatment facility enables us to control the hardness of our high-speed steel rods at around 65HRC, depending on the grade.

Cylindrical grinding of our rods on an Agathon machine guarantees a geometry of 0.002mm (circularity, straightness) and a diameter quality of h5 or h6.

Manufacture of micro-drills

Our production facilities include Swiss machines such as the 6-axis Rollomatic CNC, as well as retrofitted or in-house-designed machines.

The steps of diameter grinding, flute cutting and tip sharpening can be performed separately or simultaneously, depending on the requirements.

Engineering / Quality control

Right from the start of your project, we can help you design the optimized geometry of the tool and initiate the production of samples to verify characteristics.

At each stage of production, the drills are checked using our measuring instruments such as the Marcel Aubert optical microscope or the Nikon digital microscope.

We can submit control reports when requested.

Machine development

Our technical team works on the in-house development of machines that are perfectly adapted to the manufacture of high-precision micro-drills.

Our equipment incorporates new-generation technologies such as on-board vision, laser detection and intuitive Cobot/Robot loading.

Coating

Our drills can be coated to suit your applications.

We recommend the following coatings: TIN, TICN, TiAlN, AlCrN and other new-generation “HARD carbon” coatings.
